MUSIC: Call for choir
The Top of the Rock Chorusin her 60th year as a chapter of the Holy Adelines, invites women of all ages to a membership event, 19-21: 15 June 14 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1402 E. Kiehl Ave., Sherwood.
The choir of over 50 singers attracts members from central Arkansas and western Tennessee to perform traditional and contemporary four-part a cappella music. The June 14 session will include a brief assessment of the singing ranges, the appointment of a choir member to act as a music mentor, and refreshments. The schedule includes appearances at the Women’s Fair in August at the Arkansas State Fair and several appearances during the Christmas season. Visit topoftherockchorus.com.
FILM: ‘Babi Jane’ on the big screen

“Revival” on the big screen on Sunday and June 15 marks the 60th anniversary of the publication of the cult classic from 1962. “What happened to Baby Jane?” a psychological horror thriller about the supreme rivalry of siblings, in which an old child star (Bette Davis) “takes care” of his sister in a wheelchair (Joan Crawford) in old Hollywood.

Winners 2022 Arkansas PBS KIDS Writers Contest:
◼ Kindergarten - first place, Faith Ford from Luxor for “Love makes everything better”; second place, Harper Porter of Bentonville for “The Tree-Eating Baby”; third place, Penelope Posadas from Rogers for “Once upon a time there was a Dino birthday surprise”.

K-3 students across the state filed 93 applications. All 14 winning stories can be read online at miarpbs.org/writerscontest.
The authors will also read their stories for special segments during “Get Up and Shine”, a six-week summer show on learning, which begins on July 6, produced by Arkansas PBS and the Department of Education of Arkansas.
The evaluation included originality, creative expression, narration and integration of text and illustrations, according to a press release. Each winner will receive an Arkansas PBS prize package; The first place winners will receive the PBS KIDS Plaitime Pad, full of educational games, music and videos. Support for the competition comes from the endowment of Jun Hoes Williams.
