OSVEGO DISTRICT - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week approved supplementary vaccines for children ages 5 to 11 due to the continuing presence of COVID-19 cases in communities across the country. .
The Oswego County Health Department now offers a pediatric booster dose at its regular vaccination clinics.
The clinics are open from 12:30 to 15:30 every Tuesday and from 9 to 11 and from 13 to 15 on the second Wednesday of the month. They are held at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Osvego.
Tuesday’s clinics, which are by appointment only, offer general immunizations for children and adults, including eligible vaccines against COVID-19. Clinics on Wednesday are dedicated to vaccines against COVID-19 for eligible people. COVID-19 vaccines are also available at doctors’ offices and local pharmacies.
The CDC, FDA, and New York State Department of Health (DOH) recommend that you stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, which now include other booster doses for some people. These are all people aged 50 and over and people aged 12 and over who have certain immunocompromised conditions. Anyone receiving a second dose must be removed at least four months after the first dose.

Anyone aged 18 or over who has received the Janssen / Johnson & Johnson vaccine against COVID-19 both as a primary and as a supplementary dose is also entitled to a second dose with Pfizer-BioNTech or Modern vaccines, regardless of health status, four months after is the first dose dose.

Wednesday, June 8
9-11 and 13-3 p.m. Public Health Clinic Nick Sterio, 70 Bunner St., Osvego
- Participants aged 5 and over may receive the recommended doses of Pfizer-BioNTech according to age, and anyone aged 18 and over can receive the recommended doses of Moderna or Janssen / Johnson & Johnson.
- Meetings are preferred at all district clinics, but admissions will be accepted on Wednesday.

COVID-19 test kits at home will be distributed to individuals who will be vaccinated at upcoming clinics while stocks last.
Face masks are needed in all health facilities regulated by the state health ministry, including the Oswego County Health Department and any vaccination site.
