The New York Jets won what could eventually be the theft of the 2022 NFL draft in the defense of former Florida star Jermaine Johnson. After a dominant season in Tallahassee, Johnson is ready to continue to flourish for a franchise that is looking for leaders in its renewal process.

Could another former Seminole join Johnson as the new star in The Big Apple? According to a recent forecast by Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated, this is a possibility. While giving 100 bold predictions for the 2022 season, Or predicted that the unplanned back of free agent Jashaun Corbin would break out on the scene with the New York Giants.

Sakuon Barclay has a renaissance, but Corbyn will appear as a potential star in the attack of head coach Brian Dabol. The patience of the former Florida State Seminoles brought him to wear in early 2022.
There was optimism that Corbin would be selected late in the recent draft, but that did not materialize after struggling during the pre-draft process. Nevertheless, he quickly signed a contract with the New York Giants, a team that had a lot of problems to return recently with the weakening endurance of the star, Sakuon Barkley.
After consecutive 1K + seasons on the field to start his career, Barley has appeared in only 15 games in the last two years. He played in 13 games in 2021, averaging just 3.7 yards per attempt and finding the end zone only twice. Barclay’s unpredictability makes him a wild card entering the season and the team needs another option in the barn.

At the moment, there is not much behind Barclay. The Giants have four more defenders on contract; Matt Breida, Antonio Williams, Gary Brightwell and Corbyn. Breida is the most experienced in the group, but he has been kept below 300 yards on the ground in each of the last two years. Williams has not appeared in the game since 2020, while Brightwell never took back, mostly contributing to special teams.
This means that there is a legitimate opportunity for Corbyn to get on the list and fight for a reserve job behind Barclay if he can start training camp quickly. Although he does not have the speed or athleticism that changes the game, the native Florida has the ability to successfully return to the NFL level. Corbin also has a chip on his shoulder after he was left without a draft.
“Obviously I was a little hurt that I wasn’t in the draft, but honestly, it’s a disguised blessing,” Corbyn told The Athletic. “It just adds another chip to my shoulder. I feel like it’s the story of my life, that I have to prove that people are wrong and prove that people who believe in me are right. I’m just grateful that they gave me the opportunity and I have to make the most of it. “
During his two years in Florida, Corbyn started in 20 of 21 appearances, recording 224 attempts for 1,288 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 44 catches for 249 yards and another score. According to Giants head coach Brian Dabol, Corbyn shone during the Rookie Mini-Camp team.
