Ruby Soho calls AEV an ‘liberation’ experience, supports Sasa Banks and Naomi’s decision to leave VVE Rav

Ruby Soho knows how it feels to deal with uncertainty. Soho is fighting for a place in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament in the episode of AEV Rampage on Friday, but she did not feel without direction so long ago. Soho can emphasize with real-life friends Sasha Banks and Naomi after they left VVE.

Soho, formerly known as Ruby Rajot, was released from her VVE contract in June 2021 and reinvented herself as Ruby Soho. Based on a song by her favorite band Rancid, the nickname was given to her by the band’s lead vocalist Lars Frederiksen. Much like the character created in the video game, every element of Ruby Soho’s character is drawn from her imagination.

“I was very nervous when I was released,” Soho told CBS Sports. “I had a few months to sit down and really think about how I want to present myself. How I wanted the world to see me. It was, honestly, one of the most therapeutic and cathartic periods in my career. able to just sit back and try to figure out who I want the world to know is Ruby Soho. I’ve been lucky enough to work for a company that really lets me off the leash and to be who you are. That was what Toni Khan told me when he hired me. He said, ‘I want you to be what you are and I want you to work for me for a long time.’

“It was the freest thing anyone has ever told me. I am incredibly lucky. I think that with that freedom and that brush in my hand, it brought a whole new level of self-confidence to me. I haven’t had one in my career so far. ”

Banks and Naomi, allegedly frustrated with their own creative direction, left the arena during a live episode of VVE Rav. The company publicly suspended the duo and took away their championship in the women’s team. Soho is not instructed in the details of the departure, but she is very supportive of anyone who feels chained - especially her friends.

“I believe very strongly in everyone’s career and everyone’s experiences are different,” Soho said. “No matter what company you work for, no matter who you are or at what level you feel or at what level people portray you. I considered Sasha and Naomi friends for a long time. in the moment and in their heart is what they felt they should do, then I can only understand from an external perspective, because you never know with such things. You never know what they are experiencing, what their journey is like to that point and why they felt like they should do what they should do.

“But at the end of the day, you can only try to see them as they are as people. I adore them too. So whatever they felt they needed to do, I understand. Everyone deals with things differently. Everyone has different experiences. So, until you’re in that person’s shoes, you can’t always say what you would do. “

Soho sees the fruits of his labor in unexpected ways. Soho will appear together with fellow AEV stars MJF and Powerhouse Hobbs in the episode of the digital series “Carpool Karaoke” based on “The Late Late Show with James Corden”.

“It was an amazing experience. I am very, very happy to be a part of it,” Soho said. “And when the trailer came out, I was in the same trailer as Matthew McConaughey and Zoe Deschanel and Snoop Dogg. It’s one of my ‘What is my life moments?’ “This is happening. This is a show I’ve watched before and which I adored and I’m in the trailer. It’s wild. But I’m so happy.”

Soho will face Brit Baker in the final of the Owen Hart Cup tournament at the AEV Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 29, if he beats Chris Stantlander at the AEV Rampage.
