Zumba classes are available every week
Zumba classes with certified instructor Don are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon at Central Citrus Community Center, 2804 V. Marc Knighton Court, Lecanto.

HCA Florida Citrus Hospital will host a seminar on joint pain
HCA Florida Citrus Hospital will hold a seminar on joint pain on June 21 at 2 pm at the Citrus Memorial Health Foundation IMCA, located at 4127 V. Norwegian Briant Hvi., Lecanto.
“Relief for hip, knee and shoulder pain” will be led by a physiotherapist who will introduce visitors to the causes of joint pain, diagnosis and various available treatment options.
Those who have joint pain, difficulty standing or walking or have problems with daily activities due to joint problems, will benefit from this seminar.

In Cafe Break! Anyone who is grieving or lonely can find a safe place to hang out with others, work puzzles, play games or chat over a cup of coffee and snacks for 2-1 / 2 hours starting at 11:30 on Wednesday and 9:00 on Thursday.

Blood donors needed because the lack of blood continues
Blood donors are needed because the nation and local communities continue to feel the effects of blood shortages. All blood types are needed to help the local blood supply.
Blood donation is safe, lasts about an hour and can save three lives. LifeSouth blood donors serve patients at HCA Florida, including Citrus Hospital, UF Health Leesburg Hospital and UF Health Villages Hospital.
Blood can be donated after receiving Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines for COVID-19 or influenza vaccination.
All blood donors receive a Thanksgiving gift, refreshments and a mini-physical examination including cholesterol, iron levels, temperature and blood pressure.

Life skills service center for hosting wellness classes
The Life Skills Service Center is hosting a wellness class with Amy DiMauro, a promoter of innovative nutrition.
The class will address the topics of overcoming fears, expectations, outcomes, commitments and goals, as well as nutritional topics of sleep, energy, anxiety, pain, weight loss, joint support and multivitamin and collagen nanotechnology patches and programs for adults / children.
This class costs $ 35 and includes a meal and two free raffles along with a class. The session will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm or from 6 pm to 8 pm.
The class will be held every third month: June 6, September 9, December 12 and March 3, 2023. If it sells out at 3 and 6 pm for one of those dates, it will add additional session time.

Citrus Libraries: Healthy mind, healthy body
The Citrus Library will host several health and wellness events.
- Belly dance classes will be available on Monday at 5:30 PM at the Homosassa branch.
- On the last Tuesday of each month at 5 pm, a branch of the coastal region hosts Dorin Lavista, who leads an impressive meditation session. Bring a yoga mat, pillow, cushion or backrest to use the chair.
- Every Wednesday at 16:45 in the Lakes Region branch, Eric Pauling teaches Yang Tai Chi 13. This form emphasizes building strength, balance and coordination through simple movements. Registration is required.
- Tai Chi classes are held on Thursdays in the Floral City branch. The first class is Beyond the Basics Tai Chi at 9:30 in the morning and is intended for experienced students. Those who want to learn more about Tai Chi should attend the beginner’s course at 10:45.

The community center adds classes
East Citrus Community Center, 9907 E. Gulf-to-Lake Highway, Inverness, has announced two new additions to the community’s class schedule.
Tai Chi will be offered from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Certified Silver Sneakers Instructor Flek Katie Johnson will lead “Kathy’s Crazy Cardio Hour.”

ABC Dementia Workshops 2022
Coping with Dementia LLC and the Citrus County Library System will offer free ABC of Dementia workshops in 2022.
“Our ABC Dementia Workshop explains Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia in simple language, suggests techniques on how to become a better partner to care for less stress, and provides useful resources for families living with dementia,” said Debbie Selsavage, president of Coping with Dementia.
The remaining workshops are from 10 am to 12 noon on the following days:

- June 10 and October 21 at the Lake Region Library, 1511 Druid Road in Inverness.

Water aerobics at the Bicentennial Pool
Citrus County Parks and Recreation offers water aerobics classes from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Bicentennial Park Pool, 8145 W. Bicentennial Park Drive in Cristal River.
The price is $ 3 per person per class. These classes offer a fun, healthy fitness exercise without additional stress on the joints. Participants must be over 16 years old.

Dr. Joseph Bennett offers monthly “fire talks” starting at noon on the first Wednesday of the month at the Robert Boisone Institute of Oncology (RBOI), 522 N. Lecanto Highway.
Sessions often feature guest speakers, as well as open discussion on health and cancer care. A light lunch is provided, so RSVP is required.
Bennett welcomes questions and open discussion, so bring your questions or send them in advance to [email protected] Those who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine will be asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing inside the building.

The RBOI has supplies for cancer patients
If you need scarves, wigs, or other useful items for those undergoing cancer treatment, call Wendy Hall Medical and Social Worker, LCSV, at 352-527-0106. The Robert Boissoneault Institute of Oncology in Lecant has a room with more than 100 wigs available for free. Stop by the Lecanto office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or call to make an appointment.
Medical social workers at the RBOI will help individuals who need support through the emotional turmoil caused by cancer with resources, including applying for help from the Citrus Aid Cancer Foundation. Many services, including Zoom support and education meetings, are available to cancer patients and their loved ones. Call 352-527-0106.

Citrus Healing Impaired Program Services (CHIPS) offers free hearing examinations for Citrus County residents at the Old Railway Depot, 109 NE Cristal St. in Cristal River.
