Free concerts, family entertainment, food vendors and the environment were presented this weekend at the Blue Crab Festival in Palatka, a weekend on the occasion of Remembrance Day, which has hosted the city of Palatka for almost 30 years on the banks of the Palatka River.
The event began on Friday, May 27, and continues on Saturday and Sunday, 28-29.
This year, St. Augustine-based Ancient City Entertainment, co-owned by Jeanetta Cebollero, was hired to produce the event, adding national headliners and regional bands to the free entertainment mix.

“This year, the city of Palatka hired us to help them transform an event in their hometown into a world-class festival that will attract people from all over,” Cebolero said. “We have chosen musical performances that will appeal to a wide range of fans, from country and classical rock to R&B, and even the popular local arrangement of the band from the 80’s. “After the Palatka Blue Crab Festival had to be canceled for several years due to funding and a pandemic, we are excited to be able to help bring this cult, family festival back and make it bigger and better than ever.”
Major groups include R&B singer Ginuvine, who is known for hits such as “Pony” and “So Ankious”, Grammy-nominated country music band Little Texas, and reggae icon The Original Wailers, as well as Meachum L. Clarke & Company Gospel Choir, The Band Be Easy, Fortune Child, Papercutt, Chillula and more.
The Blue Crab Festival at the Palatka will also have fireworks on Saturday, May 28 at 8:25 p.m., along with dozens of vendors and food trucks, carnival rides, a children’s zone, a zoo, the Gatorland Water Ski Show, karate demonstrations, a full Gospel program Sunday, a New Orleans-style brass band and, of course, plenty of blue crabs.
Blue crab, a highly sought after shell and local delicacy, is widespread along the Atlantic coast and in the Gulf of Mexico.
“Traditionally, this festival is held along the river bank in the center of the Palatka in honor of members of the US military who died while serving our country,” Ceboljero said. “It is an incredible opportunity to help develop this festival in a small town, to remember our army and spend an amazing weekend for Remembrance Day with friends and family watching live music and feasting on fresh seafood.
