Entertainment opportunities abound in Monroe County

Monroe County Fair Manager Daryl Diamond holds the 75th Monroe County poster designed by Jenny Bert. The mural is a replica of the commemorative coin for this year's fair.

After two years of scarce entertainment opportunities, the calendar of local events in Monroe County is being replenished.

Many local and regional fairs, festivals and special events have been set up.

Some events, such as Luna Pier Freedom Fest, are returning after a two-year break at COVID. Others, including the Milan Music Fest (formerly the Milan Bluegrass Festival), continue with a larger event after a reduced version in 2021.

The Milan Bluegrass Festival, now called Milan Music Fest, is scheduled for June 2nd-6th. August.

Several regular offers, such as the Sumpter Township Country Fest and the Labor Day Festival at St. Joseph’s Church in Erie, have still been canceled. St. Joseph may hold a one-day festival in the fall; plans will be announced later.

More upcoming events will be announced in The Monroe News as dates are set. To report an event, send an email to [email protected]

The Monroe Big Band performs in 2018. The band is coming to St. Marie's Park June 23rd.
