Direct Support Specialists Offer Industry Leadership Compensation to Help People with I / DD Live Independent, Fulfilled Lives

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 31, 2022 / PRNevsvire / - Circulo Health, a provider of services that provide social, behavioral and physical health in full, raises the bar of high quality services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I / DD) by offering care to hundreds Oh families across the country. By expanding its Circulo Homes division, the company is improving the health and independence of people with I / DD, who generally experience far worse physical and mental health conditions than people without disabilities.

Over half (54.4%) of Oh adults with I / DD report their overall health status as “quite” or “poor”, compared to less than 9% Oh adults without disabilities, according to a report from University of Cincinnati Center for Excellence in Development. They experience up to seven times greater social isolation and lack of companionship than Ohio residents without disabilities. I Oh Adults with I / DD have rates of heart disease, hypertension, stroke, high cholesterol, diabetes and asthma that are up to five times higher than Oh adults without disabilities, the report said.

Circulo is expanding to support more people across the state and country, while making it easier to manage current services. The company plans to expand its current home and community services by six Oh counties in all 88 counties in the state next year.

To recruit the extension, Circulo plans to hire over 1,000 new Direct Support Specialists (DSPs), managers and staff in Oh this year, offering the most competitive wage package in the industry, including a broad education for those for whom DSP is a new career.

“Circulo Homes builds a culture of empowering and respecting the I / DD community to enable the three most important things we can provide: independence, equality and inclusion,” he said. Tom McMahon, Vice President of I / DD in Circulo. “In the process, we expect to significantly reduce health care costs because we support people with I / DD across Oh in search of a healthy, pleasant and fulfilling life. ”

McMahon continued, “And part of the way we do that is by making sure our direct support professionals feel valued and know we stand behind them, with the most competitive pay, benefits, training and support in the industry.”
